“Adagio,” an Italian criminal drama film directed by Stefano Sollima, who also co-wrote the screenplay, is the third and last part of the director’s trilogy on Roman crime, which also includes “All Cops Are Bastards” and “Suburra.”

The plot of the narrative is as interesting as the Adagio movie. In Rome, a 16-year-old boy named Manuel is forced to immortalize a minister for exploitation of child prostitution. He realizes the building has hidden cameras and runs away.

Vasco, a corrupt policeman, forces him to fulfill the task. Manuel takes refuge with Polniuman, an old friend of his father Daytona, who is blind and sends him to Romeo, a terminally ill Roman crime figure.

Vasco attacks Polniuman and kills him, but Cammello finds him and meets Daytona, who is consumed by senile dementia.Manuel reveals that Vasco had photographed him while performing fellatio in exchange for money, allowing him to blackmail him for the task.

He is eventually killed by Vasco and Bruno. Cammello returns home, and they find Vasco and Bruno looking for Manuel. They engage in a shootout, with Cammello dying alongside Bruno. Vasco is shot to death in the neck and tries to chase Manuel.

At the police station, Manuel meets one of Vasco’s sons and gives him headphones. The Adagio film ends with blackouts and fires, and the closing credits remember Polniuman, Cammello, and Daytona with photos of their golden era and short scenes illustrating their tragic deaths.

On September 2, 2023, the movie made its in-competition debut at the 80th Venice International Film Festival. Additionally, it was invited to the ‘World Cinema’ section of the 28th Busan International Film Festival, where it was screened on October 7, 2023.
