Little Wing is a coming-of-age drama film from the United States that was written and directed by John Gatins in 2024. Brian Cox, Lowell Deo, Brooklynn Prince, Che Tafari, Simon Khan, Lowell Deo, and Trinity Jo-Li Bliss are among its cast members. It is based on Susan Orlean’s piece of the same name.
Little Wing Movie Plot
The plot follows a story of a 13 year old girl, Kaitlyn, who is struggling with her family issues as her parents are on the verge of divorcing. This has strongly impacted on the health of the little girl and she needs to grope out of the situation as the family is on the verge of losing their house.
Learning of a valuable racing pigeon in the possession of an old man in her town, Kaitlyn concocts a plan to steal the bird and sell it to relieve their financial burdens.
She gets in touch with a veteran ,Jaan, who finds her, and although he has an emotional bond with the bird, he believes Kaitlyn’s intentions to be good and doesn’t report the little innocent child. When Kaitlyn realizes how much she has hurt the good guy, she volunteers to assist him in finding the pigeon, thus embarking on her own journey of pigeon-racing.
However, Kaitlyn manages to put herself back together and solve the missing pieces of her life with Jaan’s intervention in her life. She has now slowly developed her conscience and has grown to be a bold woman in spite of her misfortunes and seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
The coming-of-age Paramount+ movie, which is based on the same-titled article by Susan Orlean, transports us to Portland’s sprawling urban landscape while also being incredibly poignant.
Little Wing Drama Movie Filming Locations
Principal location for the Little Wing movie was according to the plot of the story, Oregon, Portland and Principal photography began in April 2023 and was wrapped up by June 13, 2023. The city of portland with its distinctive features and remarkable landmarks gave cinematic visuals to the movie and the production team utilized the diverse and beautiful flora and fauna of the city’s landscape.
The neighborhood around Denorval Unthank City Park, at 3920 North Kerby Avenue, emerged as a key filming site, utilized to depict Kaitlyn’s home and community, her home and her neighborhood location was beautifully filmed there and the location played crucial role for the Little Wing movie.
The streets and architectural beauties played an insane role in the backdrops of the movie. In particular, the Hawthorne Bridge and the neighborhoods around Denorval Unthank City Park in North Portland can be seen in the movie. Another Iconic Landmark is the Willamette River.
The bridge’s distinctive architecture and scenic views combined with the natural beauty and glimpses of the river water has a beautiful and impactful backdrop for the Little Wing movie. The soothing water and the title of the Little Wing movie also goes well along and provides an insightful thought to the movie.
Another lovely scene was filmed on the bridge where Kaitlyn and Adam rode their bikes across it at night to steal pigeons. The city sent out trucks to remove graffiti before filming on the bridge started in order to make the location look better because the south sidewalk of the bridge was included in the film. The awe-spiring bridge and its beautiful visuals were mesmerizing and jaw-dropping.
The fruitful sites from vibrant urban environment to southern terrains stretching along the Willamette River, to the marshy terrain of the Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area and quirky cafes are a sight-seeing spot in the city.
Each location has its own unique beauty and has significantly contributed to the vibrant cultural dynamic energy of the city.
