“Back to Black,” which was directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, tells the tale of the record-breaking album of the same name and the ascent of British vocalist Amy Winehouse. She signs a contract with Island Records and releases her first album, Frank.
However, her record label changes her stage act, and Amy needs time off to live her songs. She meets Blake, who becomes troubled by her addictions and bulimia. Amy learns her grandmother is dying of lung cancer and writes her hit album, Back to Black.
Blake gets arrested and serves a two-year sentence, leading to Amy’s drug addiction. After rehab, Amy receives five Grammy Awards and faces her demise. The Back to Black film ends with Amy singing “Tears Dry on Their Own” to herself.

Principal photography began on January 16, 2023, and was wrapped up by March 23 of the same year. The iconic detail in the movie was that it was filmed in the original location where the late singer performed.
London, England
Jazz performers Ronnie Scott and Pete King founded the club, which is located on 47 Frith Street in Soho. Interestingly, Ronnie Scott dated Cynthia, the paternal grandmother of Amy Winehouse, who was also a jazz musician. Winehouse was a frequent customer of Flamin’ Eight Tattoo Studio, located at 2 Castle Road, and was an avid tattoo enthusiast.

The real tattoo parlor, which is still in operation, served as the filming location for Winehouse’s tattoo scenes. The private property located at 2/3 Jeffrey’s Place can be seen in the background as Amy is being swarmed by paparazzi.
The singer’s historic first apartment served as the backdrop for scenes of Amy in front of it when she first became famous. As depicted in the Back to Black film, Winehouse was frequently the target of paparazzi.

The Good Mixer on 30 Inverness Street served as the filming location for the scenes featuring Amy and Blake’s first encounter. Winehouse was rumored to visit the place after a long day.
Taylor-Johnson claims that not much has changed in the bar since Winehouse’s time there, and that the only modification made by the production crew before filming was changing the jukebox to an older model.

Both picnic scenes in the movie were shot at the park, Primrose Hill, Camden. The Mildmay Club, 33-34 Newington Green was yet another major location where the shooting was held.

New York City was yet another amazing place where the movie’s cameras were trained. Due to its cinematic images and visuals that complemented the film, the site proved to be an excellent backdrop for the film.
