“Crossroads,”is a 2002 road trip comedy starring Tamra Davis, follows three high school students and childhood friends who reunite on graduation and promptly decide to take a trip across the country.
While Mimi (Taryn Manning)wants to visit California, Kit (Zoe Saldana) wants to become a singer and get married, and Lucy (Britney Spears) wants to meet her mother, who abandoned her when she was a child.
The story revolves around the plot of the three girls who start out in Georgia and stop at a pub in Louisiana along the road to compete in a Karaoke competition in an attempt to win enough cash to restore their automobile.
While lodging at an Alabama hotel, the girls communicate openly, sharing their worries and harsh reality. Lucy meets her mother for an unpleasant reunion in Tucson. They continue driving until they arrive in Los Angeles, where Kit and Mimi experience their own awakenings.
Beneath its surface of fun and playful antics, the movie delves into serious topics of teenage problems and life’s uncertainties. It also sends a message about letting go of the past and choosing to live in the present.
The chaotic road trips, the playful memories of childhood, the teen spirit and all the other mixed emotions are bursted out in the movie making it curious for the teen viewers especially to find the sole locations of these undefying and thriving adventures the three girls faced on.
Crossroads Movie Filming Locations
‘Crossroads’ was filmed in various sites across Louisiana and California. Principal photography began on March 12, 2001, wrapped up six months later by September of the same year.
The principal location was Louisiana, New Orleans although there film has a plot set in the direction of Georgia. Metairie , which lies in the heart of Louisiana, was suited for the shoot to show the neighborhood areas and urban places shown in the movie.

A few sequences in the film also include the lively capital city of Louisiana, which is situated along the magnificent Mississippi River. During the protagonists’ road journey, the city’s streets and locations served as stand-ins for several locations.
Lucy aka Britney Spears’s hometown was also a part of the filming process as the beautiful city of Tangipahoa Parish and its streets also added a charming background to the film.
Although most of the part was shot in LA, such as the karaoke club which lies in the city of New Orleans as Cafe Club Fais Do-Do at 5257 West Adams Boulevard.

And the iconic dance of the trio was filmed at the now-demolished Ambassador Hotel on 3400 Wilshire Boulevard. The graduation dance scene in “Crossroads” was filmed at the Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel, located at 12825 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.
Additional scenes were filmed in Los Angeles County, California. Crossroads had a total budget of $12 million;a relatively low budget by industry standards but Crossroads grossed an estimated $5.2 million in 2,380 theaters, becoming the second highest-grossing film of the day.
