A small location situated at the outskirts of the city, Cross River is the name of the little suburban community where Pesce’s “The Grudge” is set. The suburban area provided a great coverage to the movie scenes but the atmosphere of the country also made it difficult for the team as the shooting was equally challenging because most of it had to be filmed at night, during Canadian summers which are known for their long days and really short nights.
St. John’s Cathedral Boys’ School was yet another location which the production team used for the filming process. St. John’s was a boarding school which was shut down in the 1990s after it struggled for funds and credibility due to an infamous canoeing disaster.

The location became quite ideal as the basements of the school were utilized to lense some darker and negative aura scenes. The location also plays a significant role in the story, which revolves around Detectives Muldoon (Riseborough) and Goodman (Bichir) as they attempt to piece together the deaths at House 44 and ultimately become entangled in the curse.
This is the location where the terrible, gory specters first appear to the characters.
